The problem
Inconsistent hiring decisions
Without a shared competency framework, interviewers apply different criteria and benchmarks, making hiring decisions difficult to compare or reproduce.
Data scattered everywhere
CVs, notes and scores live in spreadsheets, email and messaging apps. There is no consistent way to compare candidates or build recruitment analytics over time.
No consistent level framework
Junior, Middle and Senior levels were often assigned through individual judgement, without normalised scores or a reproducible methodology.
Before / after
Before
Two leads in the live interview
Technical interviews depended on scarce lead availability.
Before
Manual capture and scoring
An administrator recorded answers and completed the assessment spreadsheet by hand.
After
One interviewer with a reusable plan
The interviewer can run a structured conversation from a shared question bank.
After
Transcript-supported review
The uploaded transcript is matched to questions and turned into reviewable evidence; the interviewer retains the final grade.
How it works
Stage 1 — AI-assisted CV screening
The system analyses each CV against defined evidence criteria and provides an indicative level and structured observations for human review.
Stage 2 — Transcript-supported technical interview
An interviewer can upload a transcript. The system identifies questions actually asked, matches them to the question bank, extracts candidate answers and assesses the evidence against level-specific criteria. Mentioning a topic is not treated as asking a question, and unanswered questions are not scored as missing knowledge.
Requirements Gathering · Process Modelling · User Stories & Use Cases · Prototyping · Data · Integrations & API · Change Management · Testing · Documentation · Agile & Scrum · Stakeholder Management · Analytical Thinking
Stage 3 — Competency assessment (STAR)
Five behavioural competencies assessed through the STAR framework: analytical thinking, communication, requirements management, problem solving and teamwork. Level-specific reference answers and normalised scoring support comparison across candidates.
Key features
Candidate Kanban pipeline
Drag-and-drop progression from screening to interview, assessment and completion, with level filters, paused candidates and pipeline analytics.
Competency profile
A radar chart presents the candidate’s profile across five dimensions, with configurable module weightings and an overall level recommendation.
Four-role access model
Defined separate visibility and permission rules for administrators, Lead BAs, interviewers and candidates.
Candidate portal
Progress tracking, CV upload and structured feedback, with scores by assessment area and development recommendations.
Human-accountable final grade
Expert testing showed that a fully automated weighted formula could diverge from professional judgement. The system therefore provides structured evidence and recommendations, while the interviewer retains responsibility for the final grade.
Self-assessment to learning journey
Users can complete a self-assessment, retain their result and move directly to recommended Academy topics for identified development gaps.
Isolated public demo
A separate environment with fictional candidates and synthetic data enables prospective employers and partners to explore the product without access to live candidate information.
Key decisions & trade-offs
Keep the final grade human-accountable
After four expert examples showed that a weighted formula did not reproduce professional judgement, the interviewer retained the final decision.
Separate “mentioned” from “asked”
Topics mentioned in conversation are not treated as questions asked; unanswered questions are not scored as missing knowledge.
Separate learning from recruitment data
The self-assessment journey connects to Academy recommendations without exposing recruitment records.

My role
Designed and independently delivered the product from concept to a working platform using AI-assisted development. Defined the requirements, user journeys, competency framework, transcript-matching rules, scoring logic, access controls and expected AI outputs. Validated the model with an experienced BA, turned roughly 12 identified issues into product changes, and rejected false automation when a weighted formula diverged from expert judgement. My ownership covered assessment and product design, output quality, privacy, validation, migration and delivery; code generation and framework-level implementation were AI-assisted.
